Our gap-resonance study is published in Ocean Engineering.

Using a two-dimensional viscous-flow model in OpenFOAM, the study examines fluid resonance between two fixed boxes with sharp, chamfered or rounded corners. It explores how corner shape, corner dimensions and incoming wave amplitude affect resonance and nonlinear wave responses.

Smoothing the corners shifts resonance towards higher frequencies and increases the resonant wave response. The study connects these changes to flow separation, viscous dissipation and higher-harmonic contributions.
